Nigerian Fredrick Godwin Scores First Pro Goal in Sweden

Fredrick Godwin, an 18-year-old Nigerian forward, scored his first professional goal for Umeå FC during a 2-2 draw against Gefle at the Umeå Energi Arena on Saturday. Godwin opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a powerful shot that struck the woodwork before entering the net, despite the goalkeeper's attempt to save it.

His teammate, Deni Olawor, later scored to secure a point for Umeå FC. This match marked Godwin's sixth appearance in the current season, which began six weeks ago.

He joined Umeå FC in February after signing his first professional contract following a trial period. Godwin is a product of Heyfash Football Academy and Erinsocc FC and previously won a gold medal with his team at the Ogun Football Event during the National Sports Festival in 2025.

Umeå FC currently sits in tenth place and will face relegation-threatened Assyriska next Thursday.
