Nigerians Spent N1.58tn on Petrol During December Yuletide Festivities

Nigerians spent an estimated N1.58 trillion on petrol in December 2025, with an average daily consumption of 63.7 million liters. The high spending was attributed to increased travel during the festive season and higher commercial activities.

Despite Dangote Refinery's price reduction efforts, some filling stations sold petrol above the average pump price of N800 per liter. The daily petrol consumption in December 2025 was the highest since October 2024, indicating a surge in fuel usage during the holiday period.
