Nigerian Data Reveals N1.58 Trillion Petrol Consumption in December 2025

Nigerian data from NMDPRA shows that in December 2025, Nigerians spent an estimated N1.58 trillion on petrol, with an average daily consumption of 63.7 million liters. The high consumption was attributed to increased holiday travel, logistics activities, and reliance on petrol for power generation.

Despite a deregulation period, the average pump price was N800 per liter, with slight variations across locations. Dangote Petroleum Refinery reduced petrol prices to N900 per liter.

Notably, some fill stations in northern parts sold petrol above N800 per liter during the festive season.
