Nigerian Government Launches Centralised Passport Centre, Promising 1-Week Delivery

The Nigerian government has unveiled a Centralised Passport Personalisation Centre at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Abuja, promising citizens a passport within a week. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, highlighted that the new system could produce passports in 24 hours and enhance global standards, improving the integrity of Nigerian travel documents.

This move aligns with President Buhari's reform agenda to enhance service delivery and efficiency. The centralisation ends the use of multiple production centers for passports for the first time in 62 years of the NIS's existence.

This step is seen as a significant reform to streamline passport production and ensure uniformity in services.
