Nigeria Fines Qatar Airways N5 Million for Consumer Protection Breaches

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) imposed a N5 million fine on Qatar Airways for violating consumer protection rules, particularly in a case where a male passenger's inappropriate conduct towards his wife went unreported by the cabin crew. The passenger was detained for 18 hours, causing trauma to his wife.

Despite the incident, Qatar Airways refused to transport the passenger to his final destination, leading to the purchase of a new ticket. The airline's disregard for Nigerian aviation regulations and weak consumer protection systems were highlighted.

Qatar Airways' failure to address complaints and disrespect towards authorities were also noted.
