Nigeria’s D’Tigers Get Government Backing As AfroBasket 2025 Kicks Off In Angola

Nigeria's national basketball team, D'Tigers, received government support as they prepare to compete in AfroBasket 2025 in Angola. The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, assured coach Mohammed Abdulrahman and the squad of the government's full backing in their quest to dominate African basketball.

Dikko also encouraged the players to draw inspiration from the Tigress team's recent success in the Women's AfroBasket. The squad, with a proven track record, is placed in Group B alongside defending champion Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon.

The tournament, featuring 16 nations including host Angola, will run from August 12 to 24. D'Tigers will kick off their campaign against Madagascar on August 13, followed by matches against Tunisia and Cameroon.
