Flamingos Qualify for 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup

Nigeria's U17 women's national football team, known as the Flamingos, secured their qualification for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup by defeating Benin Republic in the final round of African qualifiers. The decisive match took place at Stade de Kégué in Togo.

Under the guidance of head coach Akeem Busari, the Flamingos demonstrated superior performance, continuing Nigeria's strong tradition in the tournament. They will compete in Group D against Canada, France, and Samoa, with their first match scheduled against Canada on October 19, 2026.

The team aims to advance to the knockout stage, building on their previous success where they achieved a bronze medal in the 2022 tournament in India. The Nigeria Football Federation is intensifying efforts to ensure the team maintains its competitive edge, focusing on nurturing young talent and preparing adequately for the challenges ahead in Morocco.
