Nigeria's Economic Future Tied to Digital Technology

At the Digital Transformation Summit 2026 held in Abuja, Senator George Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, emphasized that Nigeria's future economic growth and public service delivery will largely depend on the country's ability to leverage digital technology. The summit, which marked the 20th anniversary of Galaxy Backbone Limited, brought together government officials, technology experts, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for enhancing digital governance across the country.

Akum noted that over the past two decades, Galaxy Backbone has become a vital national asset, providing digital infrastructure, cloud services, and cybersecurity solutions that support government operations nationwide. He stated that President Bola Tinubu's vision for digital transformation aligns with the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing innovation, transparency, and efficient service delivery.

Akum urged stronger collaboration among federal, state, and local governments to advance Nigeria's digital transformation agenda, highlighting the need for greater adoption and commitment to accelerate digital transformation at all levels of government.
