NEPC Reveals Nigeria's Non-Oil Exports Hit $1.79bn in Q1 2025, Sesame Seeds Key Export Product

Nigeria's non-oil exports reached $1.79 billion in Q1 2025, as disclosed by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). The Chief Executive Officer of NEPC, Nonye Ayeni, highlighted the growth during a sensitization workshop in Jigawa.

Sesame seeds ranked third among the top 20 export products, with a significant increase in export value compared to 2024. Ayeni emphasized the need to boost sesame seed production to maximize export potential.

The presentation also mentioned challenges faced by Nigeria's sesame seed exports to Japan due to pesticide residue issues. This underscores the importance of enhancing production quality for global market competitiveness.
