Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency Plans 500 Projects by 2026

The Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency has announced its target to execute 500 electrification projects in the 2026 fiscal year. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand reliable power supply to underserved rural communities across the nation.

Dr. Abba Aliyu, the Managing Director of the agency, disclosed this information during a briefing with journalists on the sidelines of the 2026 budget defense session organized by the House Committee on Rural Electrification in Abuja.

The agency's total budget proposal for 2026 stands at ₦170 billion, with ₦100 billion earmarked for approval of public sector solar initiatives designed to provide sustainable and cost-effective electricity to government institutions. Hon.
