Niklas Sule Announces Retirement from Football Career

Niklas Sule, a 30-year-old defender for Borussia Dortmund, confirmed his retirement from professional football at the end of the current season during an appearance on the Spielmach podcast. Sule has faced ongoing fitness issues, including a knee scare last month, which have significantly impacted his career.

He joined Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2022 after a successful tenure that included five Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Champions League triumph, and two DFB-Pokal wins. Throughout his time at Dortmund, Sule has struggled with injuries, missing 87 matches and making only 108 appearances across all competitions.

His last appearance for the German national team was in 2023. Dortmund is set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in a crucial league match under coach Niko Kovac, aiming to secure second place in the Bundesliga table.
