NiMet Predicts Dust Haze in North and Thunderstorms in South of Nigeria on Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted moderate dust haze across parts of the country, especially in northern states like Yobe, Katsina, Bauchi, Kano, and Jigawa on Friday, January 30, 2026. The dust haze is expected to reduce horizontal visibility to two to five kilometers during the morning hours.

In the southern states, NiMet predicts sunny skies with a few patches of clouds in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall expected in parts of Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and River State. NiMet warns that the dust haze may lead to reduced visibility, especially in the early morning hours, and advises people with respiratory ailments to take necessary precautions.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution while driving in hazy conditions, and airlines are encouraged to obtain specific weather information to aid their operational planning.
