Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Abducted Orphanage Victims

On May 6, 2026, the Nigerian Army's 12 Brigade successfully rescued nine individuals who had been abducted from the Daarul Kitab Islam orphanage located in Zariagi, Lokoja, Kogi State. The operation, part of ongoing security efforts known as Operation Tiger Paw II, was announced in a statement by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Hassan Abdullahi.

The rescue operation was conducted following credible intelligence and involved sustained pressure on terrorist logistics movements. The rescued victims comprised five boys, two girls, and two adult women, believed to be the wives of the orphanage's proprietor.

After their rescue, the victims were evacuated to the 12 Brigade medical center for first aid and stabilization. This operation reflects the Nigerian Army's commitment to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of vulnerable populations in the region.
