Nigeria's Pipeline Infrastructure Needs Urgent Expansion

Ngozi Adeleke, the President of the Pipeline Professionals Association of Nigeria (PLAN) and Convener of the Nigeria International Pipeline Technology and Security Conference (NIPITECS), stated that Nigeria must urgently enhance its oil and gas pipeline infrastructure to fully realize the value of recently awarded marginal fields. This expansion is crucial for meeting the Federal Government's goal of producing three million barrels of crude oil per day by 2030.

During the 2026 pre-conference webinar titled ‘Unlocking Development Finance for Nigerian Pipeline Project,’ Adeleke noted that without adequate evacuation infrastructure, the country’s production potential would remain stranded. She highlighted that the recent awards of marginal fields by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) present significant opportunities, but the lack of pipelines could undermine these gains.

The webinar aimed to connect project developers with development finance institutions and investors to facilitate project financing and infrastructure development, addressing barriers that hinder indigenous operators from attracting necessary investments.
