NITDA Leads Nigeria's Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has emerged as a pivotal force in Nigeria's digital transformation and cybersecurity efforts, as highlighted by the Citizen Watch Advocacy Initiative (CWAI). Under the leadership of Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, NITDA is advancing its mandate to develop and regulate information technology in Nigeria.

The agency is central to implementing the national digital economy policy, promoting local content, and strengthening the cybersecurity framework. NITDA aims to achieve a 95% digital literacy rate by 2030, with an interim target of 70% by 2027.

The agency has established 100 centers nationwide to support digital skills learning and has initiated a 3 million tech talent program to develop skills in cybersecurity, data science, and artificial intelligence. Abdullahi emphasized the need for a resilient approach to cybersecurity, noting that human error is a significant contributor to digital breaches.

NITDA continues to collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance Nigeria's digital economy and attract investment.
