Abuja Continental Hotel Responds to TUC Blockade Incident

Niyi Agoro, the Cluster Director of Human Resources for Lagos Continental Hotel and Abuja Continental Hotel, responded to the blockade of the Abuja Continental Hotel by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on August 24, 2026. He stated that the hotel remains operational and committed to its high standards of hospitality.

Agoro condemned the blockade, calling it unnecessary and inconsistent with constructive industrial relations principles. He noted that the TUC had not engaged in dialogue after the hotel proposed a meeting on August 3, 2026, to address concerns.

The blockade disrupted the movement of guests and staff, which Agoro deemed reckless. He reaffirmed the hotel’s priority to protect guests and staff while respecting employees' rights to freedom of association.

Agoro mentioned that workers expressed a desire not to have union representation, contradicting the TUC's actions.
