Nnamdi Kanu's Defence Team Criticizes Trial as Lack of Legal Basis

The defence team of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has condemned his trial as a deliberate attempt to secure a conviction without clear legal basis. Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2025 on terrorism charges and is currently serving his sentence in Sokoto prison.

The defence consortium highlighted the lack of specific laws cited in the prosecution's case and the trial's disregard for legal procedures. Kanu's legal team has initiated an appeal against the conviction, arguing that the trial violates constitutional rights and fails to comply with legal standards.
