NNPC Crude Oil Output Hits Five-Year High at 1.71M BPD

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has reported a significant increase in crude oil production, reaching 1.71 million barrels per day, the highest level recorded in five years. Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer, shared this update, highlighting the company's progress from April 2025 to April 2026.

The upstream subsidiary, NNPC Exploration, achieved a peak production milestone of 365,000 barrels per day in December 2025. The report also detailed the completion of major infrastructure projects, including the River Niger cross Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline in July 2025.

Additionally, NNPC's gas supply rose to 7.5 billion standard cubic feet per day in 2025, supporting various commercial agreements. The company is also introducing a joint venture model to enhance its refinery operations and has strengthened its international partnerships.

NNPC plans to reintroduce monthly performance reports to improve transparency and investor confidence.
