NNPC Aims to Boost Gas Reserves to 600tcf by 2030

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced plans to increase Nigeria's gas reserves from 215 trillion cubic feet to over 600 trillion cubic feet and boost national gas production to 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030. Olalekan Ogunleye, the Executive Vice President for Gas, Power & New Energy, stated that this initiative is part of a strategy to establish Nigeria as a global gas hub.

The company is implementing a Gas Master Plan aimed at enhancing gas reserves and production, with a near-term target of ramping up production to 10 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2027. Ogunleye emphasized Nigeria's geographical advantages and substantial gas resources, which position the country as a reliable global gas supplier.

He also noted that the dual pathway strategy for domestic gas utilization and exports would create jobs and improve economic wellbeing. The completion of Nigeria LNG Train 7 is expected in 2027, further supporting these goals.
