NNPC Limited Approves $800M Ima Gas Project Investment

NNPC Limited has welcomed the $800 million final investment decision (FID) for the Ima Gas project, which is located offshore in OMLs 112 and 117. This project is developed by AMNI International in partnership with TotalEnergies and is expected to produce approximately 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at peak output.
According to Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, this output will provide essential feed gas to Nigeria LNG Limited, aiding in the expansion of its Train 7, which will increase the Bonny Island plant's capacity from 22 million tons per annum to 30 million tons per annum. The FID was facilitated by Presidential Directives issued in 2024, which offered fiscal incentives for non-associated gas, streamlined contracting processes, and reduced development costs.
The Ima project is the fourth major gas initiative to reach FID under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following Iseni, Ubeta, and HI. Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., described this development as a significant endorsement of Nigeria's gas sector and the reforms that have fostered a competitive investment environment.
