TotalEnergies and AMNI Finalize $800M Ima Gas Project

TotalEnergies and AMNI International have taken the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Ima Gas Project, a significant development in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The project, which involves an investment of $800 million, aims to unlock a gas field discovered in 1973 that has remained undeveloped for over five decades.
TotalEnergies will invest more than $600 million in the project, which is located on Oil Mining Leases (OMLs) 112 and 117 in shallow waters near Bonny Island, Rivers State. Production is expected to commence in 2028, with the field projected to reach a plateau of 350 million standard cubic feet per day, equivalent to over 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The gas produced will be transported via a 22-kilometre pipeline to Nigeria LNG, contributing approximately one-third of the gas needed for the ongoing Train 7 expansion, which aims to increase Nigeria LNG’s liquefaction capacity from 22 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes per annum. TotalEnergies will operate the project with a 40 percent interest, while AMNI holds the remaining 60 percent.
The development is designed as a low-emissions project, utilizing a single offshore platform with electricity supplied from shore, no routine flaring, and permanent methane detection and monitoring systems.
