NNPP accuses INEC of undermining rule of law over leadership list delay

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of undermining the rule of law by delaying the upload of the names of its newly elected national executive members. In a statement released by the party's National Secretary, Ogini Olaposi, NNPP expressed frustration over INEC's delay, which has disrupted party operations and hindered preparations for upcoming state and national elections.

The NNPP emphasized that INEC's failure to comply with a binding judicial pronouncement recognizing Agbo Major as the authentic National Chairman is enabling confusion within the party. The party also condemned misleading and provocative statements made by disgruntled elements, including expelled 2023 presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso.

NNPP warned that INEC's inaction threatens Nigeria's democratic stability and public confidence in the electoral process. The party vowed to pursue legal options, including contempt proceedings, to compel INEC to fulfill its constitutional duty and uphold democracy in Nigeria.
