Keyamo Affirms Commitment to FAAN's Cashless Policy

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, announced that there will be no reversal on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria's (FAAN) cashless policy, which is being implemented across major airports in Nigeria. During a visit to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on a Friday, Keyamo highlighted the introduction of a hybrid system that allows for both cashless transactions and limited cash usage until a full transition is achieved.

This decision aligns with President Bola Tinubu's directive to suspend the strict application of the cashless policy temporarily to ensure revenue collection and ease traffic. Keyamo stated that the hybrid system will not be a permanent solution and emphasized that the federal government has mandated a complete shift to cashless operations.

He warned that failure to implement this policy could result in job losses for those who do not comply. The Minister reiterated that the goal is to eliminate cash transactions at airports to combat corruption and streamline operations.
