FAAN's Cashless Policy: Keyamo Confirms No Reversal

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, stated there will be no reversal of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria's (FAAN) cashless policy, which is being implemented across major airports in Nigeria. During an inspection of the hybrid payment system at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Keyamo highlighted the need for a smooth transition to a fully cashless system by March 1, 2026, as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that the hybrid system allows for minimal cash usage while ensuring revenue collection and easing traffic flow. Keyamo emphasized that no federal agency is permitted to collect cash, and the implementation of the hybrid system is crucial to modernizing airport operations and preventing corruption.

Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN's Managing Director, supported this initiative, which aims to streamline payment processes and improve user experience at airports.
