Air Peace Denies Abandoning Passengers in London Incident

Capt. Chris Najomo, the Director General of Air Peace, addressed allegations that the airline abandoned passengers in London after a flight disruption caused by a bird strike on May 1.

During a stakeholder engagement at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Najomo insisted that Air Peace acted in full compliance with aviation safety protocols. He explained that the aircraft landed safely in London, and passengers had already disembarked when a routine ramp inspection revealed evidence of a bird strike.

Following this discovery, Air Peace promptly contacted the aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, and grounded the aircraft pending further checks. Najomo emphasized that the airline informed passengers of the situation and provided accommodations at a Hilton hotel near Gatwick Airport, as well as alternative flights to Abuja later that day.

He criticized individuals who posted viral videos questioning the airline's actions, asserting that no airline deliberately leaves passengers stranded and condemned efforts to undermine Nigeria's indigenous carriers.
