NCAA Supports Air Peace Amid London Flight Disruption

Chris Najomo, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), defended Air Peace following a disruption of its London flight operations. He stated that the airline acted responsibly by grounding an aircraft after a technical issue was discovered during a routine ramp inspection.

Najomo rejected claims that Air Peace deliberately stranded passengers, asserting that no airline would want to leave passengers in such a situation. He explained that the airline immediately contacted Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, and was advised not to continue operations until the issue was resolved.

Najomo disclosed that arrangements were made for affected passengers, including accommodations near the airport. He urged Nigerians to support indigenous airlines rather than rushing to condemn them during operational disruptions, noting that similar incidents occur regularly among international carriers without attracting the same level of criticism.

He also mentioned that the aviation sector is currently under pressure due to rising operational costs and global conflicts affecting fuel prices.
