Atiku Abubakar's aide clarified that there was no private meeting between the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, and former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari. Reports suggesting a private meeting at Atiku's residence were debunked.

The interaction between Atiku and Yari was described as a chance encounter at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Atiku was on a private journey to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj with family members and associates when the brief exchange occurred.

The clarification came after media reports sparked discussions of a possible cross-party collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections. Atiku is a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
