Imo CP Audu Bosso Confirms No Ransom for Abducted Corps Members

On October 1, 2026, 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members and a civilian were abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road. Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, stated that no ransom was paid for their release.
The victims were rescued from the Amokohia Uwe Forest following a coordinated operation by various security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Bosso explained that sustained pressure from these agencies led to the release of the victims.
He mentioned that the rescued individuals were receiving medical attention at the DSS hospital and would be handed over to the Director-General of the NYSC for further action. Bosso also noted that the Inspector-General of Police had deployed additional tactical teams to enhance security in the area and prevent future incidents.
