Nigerian Military and Police Rescue 20 Abducted NYSC Members

The Nigerian military, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police, and other security agencies, successfully rescued 20 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a civilian who were abducted in Imo State. The abduction occurred on October 1 while the victims were traveling to their orientation camp.
They spent seven days in captivity before being rescued at approximately 4:28 pm on October 7 at Amakohia Ubi Village. Major-General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the rescue but did not provide further details.
Following their recovery, the victims were taken for medical examinations. The police stated that efforts to apprehend the suspects responsible for the abduction were ongoing.
