No Repentant Terrorists in Nigerian Military, Says Ali

Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, the coordinator of the Safe Corridor program, addressed concerns regarding the recruitment of repentant terrorists and bandits into the Nigerian military. During a media dialogue organized by the Central Democracy Development (CDD) in Abuja, he categorically stated that such claims are entirely false and lack any basis.

General Ali explained that the Nigerian security apparatus has a structured process for screening military recruits, classifying individuals as either low-risk or high-risk. He noted that high-risk individuals are not reintegrated into society but are instead processed through the normal criminal justice system.

Furthermore, he affirmed that no military or paramilitary security agency recruits former fighters who surrender. Dr. Dauda Garuba, the CDD director, praised the sacrifices made by Nigerian military troops to protect lives and property, highlighting their efforts to combat terrorism in the Federal Capital Territory.
