Nigerian Non-Oil Exporters Worried Over FG's Raw Shea Export Ban Impact

Non-oil exporters in Nigeria, represented by the Network Practising Exporters Nigeria (NPNEN), are expressing deep concerns over the federal government's recent ban on the export of raw shea products. Dr.

Ahmed Rabiu, the president of NPNEN, highlighted that while promoting local value addition and industrialization is commendable, the sudden ban risks severe disruptions across the shea value chain. Exporters fear the ban could destabilize livelihoods, undermine Nigeria's credibility in international trade agreements, and deter investments in processing facilities.

The ban, coming in the middle of the shea trading season, has left exporters trapped between honoring international commitments and obeying the sudden directive.
