Northern Governors' Summit Postponed as North-West Engages Senate on Security Challenges

The Northern Governors' Summit scheduled for November 29 in Kaduna was postponed as seven North-West state governors engaged in separate security sessions with federal authorities to address the resurgence of terrorist attacks in the region. The summit aimed to review security challenges, particularly in the rural areas and mining belts, following a spike in school abductions.

Notably, the North-West governors held high-level security meetings involving the Senate committee, armed forces, and top security commands. Peter Ahemba, a senior special assistant to the governor of Nasarawa State, confirmed plans for a meeting involving traditional rulers to address the rising incidents of kidnapping and killings.
