Northern Group Demands Credible Elections from New INEC Chairman

A coalition of Northern Youth Organizations has issued fresh demands for the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, ahead of the 2027 elections. The group, led by Ambassador Muhammad Sa'ad Aboki, called on Amupitan to ensure credible and transparent general elections in 2027 to rebuild public trust and strengthen Nigeria's democratic institutions.

They emphasized the importance of restoring credibility, ensuring fairness, and promoting voter education and youth inclusion in the electoral process. This demand highlights the critical role of INEC in upholding the integrity of elections and fostering active citizen participation in the democratic process.
