Norway Urges Nigeria to Adopt Solar Power Solutions

On World Environment Day, Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Svein Baera, called for Nigerian businesses to transition from diesel generators to solar power. Speaking at an event in Abuja, Baera highlighted the urgent need for collective action to combat climate change and environmental degradation.

He noted that pollution and climate change pose significant threats to the planet, requiring immediate global cooperation. Baera pointed out that solar power serves as a practical alternative to fossil fuels, particularly diesel, which is widely used in Nigeria.

He mentioned that Norwegian companies are already supporting Nigeria's clean energy transition by supplying solar technology. Baera also emphasized the importance of the private sector in this transition and urged citizens to adopt cleaner habits to reduce pollution.

Additionally, he announced a partnership with Nigerian artist Nike Davi Okunday, known as Mama Nike, to promote environmental awareness through art and culture, encouraging public commitment to protecting the planet.
