Norwegian Football Federation Calls for FIFA Investigation

The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has formally requested FIFA's ethics committee to investigate the decision by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to award a peace prize to U.S. President Donald Trump.

This award was presented during the December 6 draw for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Human rights group FairSquare has filed a complaint with FIFA's ethics committee, alleging that Infantino breached his duty of neutrality by supporting Trump.

NFF President Lise Klaveness stated that she acted independently in approaching FIFA's ethics committee, expressing concern that other federations were aware of the situation but did not take action. Klaveness emphasized that she did not want to create friction but felt it necessary to address the issue.

The controversy arises as the Trump administration has repeatedly sought the Nobel Peace Prize, raising questions about the appropriateness of the FIFA award.
