Nottingham Forest Agrees Deal for Man City's Stefan Ortega Amid Squad Shortage

Nottingham Forest has agreed to a £500,000 deal with Manchester City to acquire goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to address an urgent squad shortage. The move comes as Nottingham Forest intensifies its pursuit of a new goalkeeper following John Victor's serious knee injury, which is expected to sideline him for the rest of the season.

Ortega, a 33-year-old German, is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City. Despite not featuring for Pep Guardiola's side this season, Ortega brings experience, having made 56 appearances and played a significant role in Manchester City's Premier League title-winning campaign in 2024.

Nottingham Forest is also working on strengthening other areas of the squad, with efforts to sign Inter Milan midfielder David Frattesi and securing Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca on loan. The club recently faced a setback as their £35 million bid for Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta was rejected.

Nottingham Forest is currently 17th in the Premier League and preparing for Europa League playoff action.
