NPA Enhances Export Logistics for Hinterland Businesses

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is intensifying efforts to improve export logistics for businesses in Nigeria's hinterland, aiming to eliminate trade bottlenecks, expand non-oil exports, and increase foreign exchange earnings. Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, the NPA Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, announced this initiative during the NPA Special Day at the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair, organized by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The NPA plans to strengthen port infrastructure and extend maritime logistics to facilitate easier access for businesses to international markets. The recent Federal Government approval for the NPA to manage Inland Dry Ports (IDPs) is expected to reduce logistical burdens on exporters in northern and central Nigeria, including Abuja.
Dantsoho emphasized that this would allow exporters to complete port clearance and documentation closer to their locations. The NPA has also introduced dedicated Export Processing Terminals to streamline the export process for agricultural commodities and solid minerals, enhancing Nigeria's export activity and foreign exchange inflows.
