Nigeria Police and Banks Unite Against Cybercrime Threats

On Thursday, the Nigeria Police Force's National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) hosted a high-level delegation of banking executives at its headquarters in Abuja. The visit aimed to strengthen strategic collaboration in the ongoing fight against cybercrime and financial crime in Nigeria.

The delegation included the Director of the Centre, CP Ifeanyi Uch, who reaffirmed the NPF-NCCC's commitment to combating cybercrime both nationally and internationally through proactive intelligence-driven policing and digital forensic strategies. The core mandates of the Centre include investigating, supporting, and prosecuting cybercrime cases, as well as conducting digital forensic examinations and analyzing social media for cyber intelligence.

The Chairman of the Association of Chief Executives of Banks, Mr. Nixon Iwedi, commended the NPF-NCCC for its resilience and sustained efforts in combating cybercriminal activities within Nigeria and across international borders.

This engagement follows earlier discussions with Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the police and the banking sector to tackle cybercrime and financial fraud.
