Bayelsa United secured a surprising victory over Shooting Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday one at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. Sunday Kehinde Lawal scored the winning goal for Bayelsa United in the second half.

Warri Wolves claimed their second away win by defeating Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Maiduguri Warriors emerged victorious against Bendel Insurance, with Al amin Umar Daddy Abdulrahman scoring the winning goal.

Other results included Abia Warriors drawing with Kano Pillars, Ikorodu City battling to a draw with Kwara United, and Plateau United defeating Remo Stars.
