Barau FC hold Enyimba; Katsina Utd, 3SC suffer NPFL opening day defeats

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season kicked off with Barau FC holding defending champions Enyimba to a goalless draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. Katsina United suffered a defeat to Warri Wolves, while 3SC also lost to Abia Warriors.

In other matches, Bayelsa United secured a victory over Katsina United, and Wikki Tourists defeated Plateau United. Enugu Rangers failed to secure a win against Kun Khalifat, and Ikorodu City drew with Kwara United.

The season officially commenced on August 22 with a keenly contested match between Remo Stars and Rivers United, which ended in a draw. Abia Warriors currently lead the table after a convincing victory over Bendel Insurance.

The remaining MatchDay One fixtures between Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United are scheduled for August 27 in Ilorin.
