NPFL Unveils 2025/26 Season Official Calendar, Obioma Seals Return To Abia Warriors

The NPFL has announced the official calendar for the 2025/26 season, with the league set to kick off on Friday, August 22, 2025. The defending champions, Remo Stars, will host Rivers United in the season opener in Ikenne.

The league will observe a break from December 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026, allowing players and clubs to regroup before the title race heats up. The transfer window will open on January 1 and close on January 30, 2026.

The season is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2026. In other news, Chukwuemeka Obioma has sealed a return to Nigerian football by signing with Abia Warriors.

Obioma, who previously played for Enyimba, will provide a major attacking boost to Abia Warriors as they prepare to compete in the NPFL, President Cup, and Conference League next season.
