NRCAI Advocates for Safe AI Use in Nigeria

The Nigeria Religious Coalition on Artificial Intelligence (NRCAI) has called for a united front to ensure the safe use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Nigeria. This appeal was made during a training session for journalists in Enugu on Tuesday, aimed at educating them on the merits and potential demerits of AI applications in daily life.

Rev. Kolad Fadahunsi, the director of the Christian Council of Nigeria's Institute for Church and Society in Ibadan, emphasized the need for unity to prevent the misrepresentation and misinformation surrounding AI.

He urged stakeholders, including citizens, scientists, business leaders, faith leaders, and policymakers, to participate in initiatives that uphold human dignity and foster peace. Fadahunsi also highlighted the importance of journalists in disseminating accurate information and cautioned against the emotional sentiments often associated with religious matters in Nigeria.

Yusuf Suleman Njoku, the chief imam of Imo State, echoed these sentiments, warning that AI could pose catastrophic risks if not properly analyzed and disseminated.
