NSC DG Olopade Dismisses Chelle Exit Rumors, Supports Super Eagles Amid Criticism

The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Olopade, has denied speculation surrounding the potential departure of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle. Despite reported interest from Tunisia, Gabon, and Angola, Olopade asserts that Chelle is not considering leaving Nigeria.

Chelle's stock has risen following Nigeria's bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). With less than a year left on his contract, rumors of Chelle's departure have circulated, but Olopade emphasizes ongoing discussions to ensure stability within the national team setup.

Olopade also addressed criticisms from former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh regarding player behavior, particularly Victor Osimhen's celebrations during Nigeria's AFCON semi-final loss to Morocco. Olopade made it clear that he does not share Oliseh's views on the matter.
