NSC Urges Favour Ofili to Return Amid Transfer Block

The Nigerian Sports Commission (NSC) has called on sprinter Favour Ofili to return to the national team, reaffirming its commitment to support her Olympic ambitions. This appeal follows World Athletics' decision to block her transfer application to Turkey, citing concerns over the integrity of international competition and the recruitment of athletes across multiple countries.

NSC's Director General, Bukola Olopade, emphasized Nigeria's full support for Ofili, encouraging her to remain in the country despite the recent developments. He expressed the importance of re-engaging with her and highlighted the need for a stable environment for her to thrive.

Former Athletics Federation of Nigeria President Solomon Ogba supported World Athletics' decision, describing it as a victory for protecting the development of grassroots talent. Ofili remains eligible to represent Nigeria in major international competitions, including the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
