NSCDC Chief Visits Minna Emir After 37 Miners' Deaths

Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), visited the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago, and the families affected by the deaths of 37 miners in Niger State. During his visit, Audi expressed condolences and assured the bereaved families of the Corps' commitment to justice and transparency.

He stated that the NSCDC would not shield any personnel found culpable in the incident and emphasized accountability for wrongful actions. Following a directive from the Presidency, the Federal Government has constituted a high-powered investigative committee to determine the circumstances surrounding the miners' deaths.

Audi confirmed that the NSCDC would fully cooperate with the committee and that relevant personnel had been placed in protective custody to ensure their availability for the investigation. He also participated in prayers for the deceased, recognizing the significance of the third and seventh-day prayers in the Muslim faith.

The Emir of Minna expressed gratitude for Audi's visit and the NSCDC's administrative measures.
