NSCDC Collaborates on Investigation of Miners' Deaths

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is fully cooperating with a Presidential Committee investigating the deaths of 37 alleged illegal miners in its custody in Niger State. Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi made this announcement during a condolence visit to the Emir of Minna, Umar Farouk Bahago, and the families of the deceased miners.

The visit aimed to express condolences and support for the grieving families. Audi assured that the NSCDC would not protect anyone found culpable and emphasized the importance of justice and transparency in the investigation.

The Nigerian Government has established a 10-member independent investigative committee, led by Jonathan Kure, to probe the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Relevant personnel have been placed in protective custody to ensure their availability for the investigation.

Audi also participated in prayers for the deceased and their families, highlighting the cultural significance of these rituals.
