NUJ FCT Initiates Inter-Agency Sports Competition

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, launched its Inter-Agency Sports Competition to enhance relationships among journalists, government agencies, security organizations, and other stakeholders through sportsmanship. At a press conference in Abuja, Comrade Grace Ike, represented by Vice Chairman Yahaya Ndambabo, emphasized the competition's role in promoting friendship, teamwork, and institutional collaboration.

The initiative aims to provide journalists, who often face intense pressure, with opportunities for relaxation and engagement outside the newsroom. Chibueze Chidioka, Chairman of the Organising Committee, noted that the competition would deepen engagement between the media and various institutions while promoting journalists' welfare.

Dr Sunday Obasaki provided details, stating that 18 teams from media, security, and government sectors would compete, including the NUJ, FRSC, NPF, NAF, NDLEA, FHC, and others. Matches will take place at the Area 3 Football Pitch and the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.

The NUJ FCT Council hopes to make this competition an annual event.
