NUJ Hosts National Security Summit in Abuja

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is organizing a two-day National Security Summit in Abuja, aimed at providing a high-level platform for dialogue on journalist security and effective information management during crises. The summit will attract senior government officials, heads of security agencies, media executives, editors, and civil society organizations across Nigeria.

General Christoph Musa, the Minister of Defence, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, will serve as special guests of honor. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), will deliver the keynote address.

The summit, hosted by NUJ President Comrade Alhassan Yahya and chaired by Minister of Information Moham Idri, comes at a critical time when Nigeria faces complex security challenges and rising public anxiety due to misinformation. Discussions will include responses to security operations, handling sensitive information, and building mutual trust between journalists and security personnel.

The summit aims to adopt a communiqué outlining a framework for future engagement between media and security institutions.
