NUJ to Host National Security Summit in Abuja, June 2026

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to convene a two-day National Security Summit in Abuja from June 18 to 19, 2026. The summit aims to strengthen collaboration between the media and security agencies to enhance national stability and development.

The theme focuses on building partnerships to manage information effectively during crises and combat misinformation. Key participants include General Christoph Musa, the Minister of Defence, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who will serve as the special guest of honor.

Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), is expected to deliver the keynote address. The summit will address critical issues such as the response to security operations, access to credible information, and strategies to counter disinformation and hate speech.

The NUJ, under the leadership of Comrade Alhassan Yahya, reaffirms its commitment to defending press freedom and promoting the safety and welfare of journalists.
