NUPRC Confirms Nigeria Achieved 1.7m bpd Output, Signals Industry Growth

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has confirmed that Nigeria achieved a crude oil production level of 1.7 million barrels per day (bpd) on several occasions in November 2025. This achievement reflects a rebound in upstream investment and better security in the oil-producing region.

NUPRC's Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, revealed that the country's rig activity has significantly increased, with plans worth $20 billion approved to expand the sector's production capacity.

The focus is on unlocking an estimated 1.7 billion barrels of oil and 7.7 trillion cubic feet of gas. The commission is confident in Nigeria's ability to consistently produce above the 1.5-1.6 million bpd threshold in the near term, attracting more investments and strengthening the country's revenue targets.
